I am currently on holiday from work & as such have done pretty much nothing the past few days. It has been amazing! I’ve not had any time off since October, so this week is all about relaxing. I have read a lot, watched TV & padded around the house. I have nothing interesting to post about! So here is my week on Instagram. As you know I’m taking part in 100 Happy Days, so I at least have photos to share! Yay!
I recently discovered how to put fanfiction on my kindle, so I’ve mainly been reading Supernatural fanfiction (I ship Destiel, much to David’s dismay). I’ve been using archiveofourown.org, it has a download option on each story, so you don’t have to use various downloaders. You can also choose the file format instead of changing it later (use .mobi for Kindle).
The nails are press on ones from the Elegant Touch range. I did use nail glue on them though, they weren’t very secure with just the adhesive. I got them in Boots, it looks like they’re only available in store at the moment.
David’s off work for the next few days & I’ll actually be venturing outside, so I should have some more interesting posts for you lovely readers.
Michael is an 11 year old boy who tried to commit suicide due to bullying. He was bullied because he is a Brony, which is a male fan of My Little Pony. I know there is a huge fandom surrounding My Little Pony & a huge amount of Bronies make up this fandom. I find it staggering that people, children especially, have learnt to be so cruel to one another over something as small as a TV show. I am also heartsick that Michael felt suicide was his only option. There has since been an outpouring of love & support for Michael, unfortunately he is not currently able to read any messages, as he has not yet woken up & is suffering from severe brain damage.
I first heard about Michael’s plight on Jen from Cake Wrecks geek blog Epbot, you can see her post on the - link. I continually let my geek flag fly, so I know some of the responses you can get from people who don’t understand the passion that comes with being part of a fandom, but I cannot get over the pain this little boy has suffered at the hands of other children, because he likes something.
Michael’s family have set up a Go Fund Me site to help pay medical costs. Please donate whatever you can to ease this family’s suffering. You can donate at the link.
I think John Barrowman said it best:
Never apologize for being nerdy, because unnerdy people never apologize for being assholes.
I’ve decided to take part in the 100 Happy Days project. I’m stuck in a rut at the moment, so I’ve decided to actively open my eyes to the good things that happen on a daily basis. A lot of friends have been taking part & I thought I’d jump on the bandwagon!
The 100 Happy Days Project is dedicated to getting people to acknowledge the good things that happen in their lives. The idea is to post a picture of something that has made you happy, every day for 100 days. If you achieve your goal the creators will send you a 100 page picture book, full of your happy moments. The website explains that 71% of people failed the challenge, because they didn’t have enough time to be happy.
You can follow my progress on Instagram, Twitter & right here. If you want to take part (I think you should) all you need to do is visit 100happydays.com & fill out the form.
